Modesto rally for health care fix
A Modesto march and rally are set for today to urge Congress to pass comprehensive health care reform. The march starts at 1 p.m. at Enslen Park at Enslen and Stoddard avenues. The procession will march to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court downtown and return to the park. The rally begins at 2 p.m. Sponsors include the Stanislaus County Grassroots Alliance, Stanislaus-Tuolumne Central Labor Council and the Central Valley Democratic Club. Organizers say the march includes a stop at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court because of what they say are the high numbers of people forced into bankruptcy because of health care costs. The rally includes speakers, bands and children’s activities. Organizers expect a crowd of 200 to 250 people.
